ZIGGO DOME

Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The Ziggo Dome is an impressive concert hall named after its naming right sponsor. With a capacity of 17.000 the Ziggo Dome is primarily designed to stage concerts, though it is also used for fairs, sport- and dance events. Its located in the ArenA Poort, the new urban centre in the south east of Amsterdam.

The building was designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects, The Netherlands. The construction took three years and the official opening was in 2012. Although the name suggests a dome shaped structure, the actual building is rectangular: 30m in height with 90m/ 114m long facades.

The façade is coloured black with a repeating embossed pattern of rectangles. Perfectly integrated within this pattern of rectangles, the building features a LED Media Façade that will immediately capture your attention when passing by. The LED Media system covers all four facades measuring almost 10.000m2 in size. It includes a total of 114.912 LED pixels making the building appear like a video screen on all sides. On the West façade, which is facing one of the busiest highways in the Netherlands, the LED pixels are installed on a 300mm horizontal x 100mm vertical grid. On the other three facades the grid is 800mm horizontal x 200mm vertical.

The system is used for advertising, announcements and to show what is happening inside. The involved creative team of the client perfectly understands the proper content for this giant Media Façade making it a highly impressive showcase VML-Technologies is immensely proud of supporting.
